Fall 1968 - Kelley High School's Cross Country Champs

In previous blog I wrote that I have in my possession a scrapbook of senior year, 1968-1969.  Here's a scan from a Duluth newspaper article I saved dated Sunday, Sept. 22, 1968.

From left toe right:  Ron Rude, Mike Hanson, Randy Rolando, Larry Sornberger, Jim Koehler, Bob Fedderly and Steve Whittaker.

I love this photo of the Cross Country team! We were such big fans! I still remember those meets and the smell of the ointment they used, creamagesic or something like that! Did we follow them because Mr. Lynch coached them or was it one of our duties as SMAASS officers? Every year during Grandma's Marathon and the Gary Bjorkland half marathon, I think of us seeing him run and cheering for our team.
As far as movies, just off the top of my head, I remember Old Yeller and The Friendly Persuasion. Also those Walter Cronkite You Are There short reel things, or was that during school?
Once again I'm amazed at what you remember and how well you paint the picture of our growing up with your thoughts and words! Keep it coming!!
